| Because, apparently, I do not post enough |

|
swan_tower and kniedzw were over last weekend, and kniedzw complained that I do not post enough. Part of this is that I don't really have anything to say. I'm either unemployed and depressed looking for work or employed and busy and unable to talk about work except in very general terms. I could comment on the weather, I suppose, but that will generally anger most of the people reading this ("What do you mean '80 degrees is hot'? Don't get me started on hot, you West coast pansy.").
So, status update: I am working again, and fingers crossed, this project will go more than two weeks. On the downside, there's a very, very good chance that after a month we'll be down on the peninsula. This will suck extraordinarily, but as I have no life (see e.g. LJ posting on a Friday evening), the commute will eat up hours I would otherwise have to figure out how to fill. For all that I probably have a better quality of life (8 hour day, more than adequate compensation), I really would like a "real" job. I would like to feel confident drafting something, and I'm not going to learn that doing what I'm doing. We'll see.
In the meantime, I need to reserve airfare and hotel for condign's wedding. After seeing Om Shanti Om, I really, really can't miss this. I suppose it would be good to find someone to accompany me as well. I also need to figure out what I want for dinner. I'm thinking cereal and strawberries. It's hot, you see, and that has a tendency to kill one's appetite. I think it's around 82 here. FREAKING HOT, PEOPLE.
ETA: Ended up spending the evening with Viagra and other former co-workers (got back just after 3am). Ridiculous amounts of fun were had, even if the karaoke plan fell through due to work rearing it's ugly head. This is why karaoke is penciled in for tomorrow night. It is time to break out the 残酷な天使のテーゼ and リンダリンダ~~~

CNN now sells T-shirts with the latest headlines on them. Once you've purchased you shirt, you can link to it on your Facebook. Good on CNN for keeping those consumer dollars flowing, but wtf?

Dear Basara,
Thank you for filling the gaping void that was left when I ran out of volumes of Hana Yori Dango. I just wish that, maybe, you could have done so with less of . . . a vengeance. You are like a kudzu plant that is mercilessly choking the life from my (already woefully tended) garden of rational thought. For serious.

I have the Internet back. It's been more or less down for the last several days, and it has not been pretty. Hello, where is my left arm?
Of course, announcing to you all that I'm back means the power lines are probably going to go down any minute now. Yeah, I know how you work, Universe, you big jerk.

Where did I first hear "Nerd Porn Autuer"? Was it one of you that introduced me?
I'm rather partial to "When I Was A Kid" as well.
If it isn't obvious, the link makes noise and is NWS.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm coming down from the crazy now. I've run out of Boys Over Flowers volumes to read, so I think the massive case of girl cooties I've developed should subside within a day or so.
Unless I start watching the ドラマ...
あたしのタキシード仮面様はどこいるの~?!?
What about Domyoji? Or Touga? Or Kurogane (please be nicer to him, CLAMP!)? Okay, probably not Kurogane. Besides, Mamoru's probably the most well-adjusted and he does science! Hmmm, hmmm. Daaaammmmnnnn but shojo managa eats through the brain quickly.

Does anyone have a sponge? I think that's my cerebral cortex puddled on the floor over there...

I'm reading Boys Over Flowers.
Really. I think I'm going to have to go to a monster truck rally or something to counter the ridiculous, ridiculous squeeness these books produce.
Domyoji, you big, adorable jerk!
::flail::
Carry on.
ETA: Nooooooooo! They haven't finished translating the series! Where is Book Off when I need it??!

The backlight on my laptop's screen went out. You can see what's on the screen, sort of, if you shine a bright light on it. Emphasis on the sort of. It did work well enough to find Dell's phone number and to check my warranty status, so that's good.
Hallelujah for purchasing a laptop from the business line. This means I have a three year warranty instead of one and I should have a new screen on my laptop no later than Wednesday. In the meantime, I have fan-freakin-tastic roommates who own lots of computer paraphernalia and am thus fixed up with an external monitor until the laptop's repaired.
CRTs are really heavy.

Should I watch the pilot first or just jump right in? Both arrived from Netflix yesterday, and yes, I am watching for you.

| Brown could deliver my %$@#* package, that's what it could do for me |

I have the replacement part for my bookcase now, no thanks to UPS.
I decided to call and see if the part had been shipped, and the nice people at the furniture company said that according to UPS, it had been delivered an hour before I called.
"That's funny," I thought. "Maybe it came while I was in the shower." So I went downstairs and checked. No package. I call back.
The next friendly customer service representative said that it had been delivered to the "side door". This is odd because there is no side door to this building. She gives the tracking number and UPS's number and I double check to make sure that the there isn't some side door I just never noticed.
Call UPS. The friendly automated voice tells me that they delivered the package to my street number the next street over. I don shoes, run out the door and start looking for my next-street-over counterpart. Which doesn't exist, incidentally. However, where it should have been was a nice little side entrance for another building (that doesn't share my street number either), and lo, there was a package leaning against the building. Sure enough, 'twas my package with the correct street and street address and one extra sticker with the wrong street on it. I HATE YOU SO MUCH UPS.
So, now, at long last, I have all the necessary whole and complete pieces to construct my bookcase and another reason to love the US Postal Service.

It's being shipped UPS.
